From Urban Dwelling to Green Oasis

A Dreamy Transformation

Interior design has the power to amaze, and this trendy East London flat stands as a remarkable example. Once an ordinary city dwelling, it has been ingeniously transformed into a green-themed oasis, perfectly embodying the essence of the Pantone Colour of the Year—Greenery.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve fantasized about creating my own Grand Design. The Outside In House has now set a high standard for my design aspirations.

A Welcoming Forest Retreat

Stepping inside this enchanting flat, I left behind the cold, dim streets of Clerkenwell. The foyer enveloped me in a forest-like atmosphere, reminiscent of a Hansel and Gretel tale. I half-expected to receive a loaf of bread, just to ensure I could find my way back through this whimsical space.

The entrance featured a bark-covered floor and an earthy ambiance that immediately soothed my senses. It was an unexpected escape into nature that set the tone for what lay ahead.

A Botanical Wonderland

From the enchanting foyer, we ventured into the living area, where botanical cocktails awaited us in a charming greenhouse. This space was nothing short of Instagram perfection. Every shelf was adorned with a variety of plants, from vibrant cacti to delightful terracotta pots decorated with chalk-pen doodles. Polaroid photos of Gardener Joe added a personal touch, while books on wildflowers lined the shelves, making this living area a true horticultural haven.

A Serene Escape Below

Descending the spiral staircase led us to the basement bedroom and bathroom, which continued the nature-inspired theme. The bathtub, an eye-catching luminous green, was surrounded by lily pads and a lush assortment of plants, creating a mini-jungle retreat. The large sink and walk-in shower completed this serene escape, making it feel like a spa experience at home.

Unique Airbnb Experiences

For a limited time, this stunning flat was available for guests to book, akin to any typical Airbnb listing. With over 500 unique Airbnb Experiences available across 12 cities and plans to expand to 51 cities this year, the options for travelers are growing exponentially.

I’ve had my share of Airbnb adventures. In Copenhagen, I spent a day in a stylish modern studio in Frederiksberg. Los Angeles offered me a sun-soaked bungalow in the hip Silverlake area. Croatia treated me to a luxury villa with an infinity pool in Brac, while in Belfast, I found an unforgettable Airbnb overlooking Ormeau Park. My host, Paula, a vibrant and hilarious woman, changed my outlook on life over a bottle of wine and an inspiring conversation.

Future Adventures Await

Looking ahead, I’m gearing up for a Deep South road trip in April 2017 with two close friends. Although we haven’t booked our accommodations yet, we’ll definitely be exploring hotel, motel, and Airbnb options across Miami, Jacksonville, the Smoky Mountains, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, New Orleans, and Orlando.
